Spring Road Trip: Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
Students who study at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington can enjoy many activities and have different experiences during different seasons. In the Spring, the weather warms up and the skies are blue more often. Spring Quarter is the time when student can start exploring the outdoors on weekends. The Seattle Mariners start their season, and OC students can enjoy the games at the ballpark. There are also plenty of hiking trails and festivals to visit.
One well-known festival that attracts thousands of international visitors is the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is an annual event held from April 1-30 in Skagit Valley near Mount Vernon, WA and La Conner, WA. There are different tulip farms you can visit, and most of the big ones charge an entrance fee. The largest tulip farm is the RoozenGarde (Map), which was founded by Dutch immigrants to the area. The entrance fee was $25 per person, but it was worth it. There was over 60 acres of tulips and other flowers, creatively and perfectly landscaped in a multitude of colors.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is an hour drive north of Seattle, WA. From Olympic College, it is a two-and-a-half-hour drive by car. You can drive through Seattle, but there is a more scenic route.

1) You can drive north about an hour from Bremerton, WA to Port Townsend, WA.

2) You can catch the WSDOT Ferry from Port Townsend to Coupeville on Whitbey Island. It takes the ferry 30-40 minutes to cross the Puget Sound.

3) From Coupeville, on Whitbey Island, you drive north about 20 minutes, and you will drive over the Deception Pass Bridge. It is worth stopping here to walk over the Deception Pass Bridge. It is very scenic, and it is the highest bridge in Washington State.

4) You can cross the Deception Pass Bridge to get to Fidalgo Island. You can stop by the town of Anacortes, WA

5) You can drive across Fidalgo Island, and drive over the bridge to Skagit Valley near La Conner, WA. It will be a short car ride to RoozenGarde Tulip Farm (See Photos).
